SNAPCHAT

Snap brought Shane in to develop original shows and experiences designed specifically for the Snapchat platform. Rather than adapting traditional television formats, these projects were built from the ground up to take advantage of Snapchat’s unique capabilities embracing the vertical screen as a storytelling canvas and integrating the platform’s native tools.

Across multiple projects, Shane explored how narrative could expand beyond video by incorporating augmented reality, messaging, maps, and interactive gameplay mechanics. The goal was to create entertainment experiences that could only exist on Snapchat stories where viewers didn’t just watch, but actively participated. The projects featured below represent a selection of the work created during this collaboration.

MOVE TO MICHIGAN SERIES

Move to Michigan was a scripted series developed for Snapchat that fully embraced the storytelling possibilities of the vertical screen. Set in a near future world where climate change has rendered much of the planet uninhabitable, the story follows two sisters who leave the safety of an underground bunker in Los Angeles to search for their missing father.

Their father was believed to be charting a path to one of the few remaining livable climates Michigan. Their journey takes them across a harsh and unpredictable landscape in a desperate search for both their father and a new home.

DRIP FLIP SKIP INTERACTIVE SHOW

For Snapchat’s sneaker review show Drip, Flip, or Skip, Shane created an interactive experience that brought viewers directly into the critique. Using augmented reality, audiences could explore the featured sneakers in real time rotating, zooming, and examining every detail as if the shoe were physically in their hands.

As viewers inspected different parts of the sneaker, commentary from the hosts dynamically aligned with what they were looking at, making the experience feel like they were part of the conversation. Fans could even try the shoes on virtually, explore alternate colourways, and seamlessly purchase them through an integrated store transforming a traditional sneaker review show into an immersive, interactive, and shoppable experience.

DEAD OF NIGHT INTERACTIVE

For Snapchat’s horror series Dead of Night, Shane designed an immersive augmented reality experience that pulled viewers directly into the story. Rather than simply watching the show, audiences became part of the narrative using their phone as a window into the world of the characters.

Seamlessly integrated with the live action episodes, the experience blurred the line between viewer and character transforming a traditional horror show into an interactive survival moment unfolding in the audience’s own world.

At key moments in the story, viewers would shift into an AR survival sequence where zombies appeared to break into the physical space around them. Players had to scan their environment, navigate the room, and communicate with characters from the series to survive the attack.
